How Did We Get Here?

One of the questions we get asked the most is how do we write together?

We've actually known each other since the eighth grade, *mumble*mumble* years ago! Even then we were voracious readers, and writing was a natural extension of that habit. We wrote our first story together back then, collaborating by taking turns writing at home on our word processors (WordStar, anyone?) and then bringing the manuscript to school on a 5.25" floppy disk. We traded the disk back and forth at school in the hallways like spies passing state secrets. That story was a swords and sorcery fantasy that, while it won us $50, it will never, ever, see the light of day again.

Fast forward past college, careers, families and kids, and we resumed writing together in 2017.

Julia Vee

Julia loves stories about heroes, monsters, and heroic monsters. Julia attended U.C Berkeley and majored in Asian Studies. She is a graduate of Viable Paradise. She and co-author Ken Bebelle have a trilogy acquired by Tor, debuting with Ebony Gate in the Spring ‘23.

Ken Bebelle

Ken turned his childhood love of Star Wars into a career in prosthetics. He graduated from UCLA with a B.S. in Cybernetics and spent over twenty years specializing in upper limb replacement. Star Wars was a good influence on him. Since Ken had always been an avid reader of fantasy, science fiction, cyberpunk, and comic books, it made perfect sense that he would also write SFF. In his spare time, Ken ponders the cyberpunk novel that he has yet to write, and tries to grow tomatoes in his backyard.
